HipO Clothing - Hip, Stylish and Green.
As Korie Ocolisan, founder of HipO, watched Mother’s tossing out hardly worn name brand children’s clothing, she had an idea: Resell the clothes as part of a fun, hip, green line of clothing that teaches children to reuse and recycle. And so, HipO was born.
“There’s already so much lovely name-brand toddler and children’s clothing in Canada that has only been worn 2 or 3 times, why buy something new?” Buying pre-loved clothes at HipO is certainly greener than buying new from an environmental point of view. No new resources are used to produce HipO clothes, and therefore, no additional pesticides or other chemicals are released into the environment.
New clothing, sustainable or not, always has some type of environmental impact attached. Consider the fuel used to transport bamboo fibre from China to a manufacturer in Canada or the lax environmental regulations in developing countries where many clothes are made.
Every year 85% of recyclable clothes are being needlessly thrown out. At HipO kids’ clothing is resold and reused, rather than ending up in a landfill. “The great thing about becoming a convert to buying HipO is not only teaches children the three Rs model of reducing, reusing, and recycling, it saves Mom & Dad money.”
HipO is located on Queen, just west of Victoria Park in Toronto and carries hip, stylish brands like Gap, Gymboree, Old Navy and many more from Newborn to Youth.
